Most people that contact my firm have never spoken to a lawyer before, so don't be afraid!
Once you submit your contact form, I will receive a notice and review your information. I always respond, usually within one business day. If you don't receive a response, check your spam folder.
My response will vary depending on the information you provide. Sometimes I'll request more information. Other times, I will send you a link to schedule an initial phone consultation. Finally, I may provide a referral if I can't handle your case right now.
If you haven't received anything from me within two business days, feel free to follow up by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
No. Unlike the medical industry, my firm does not believe in surprise billing. My clients always know when they will be charged for services, and you will never incur a charge because you submitted a contact form.
During your initial consultation, we will have an in-depth discussion of service fees. Fees will also be memorialized in a written legal services agreement. Many initial consultations are free, and those that are not require a modest consultation fee to be paid in advance. You will know before setting up the initial consultation if there is a fee.
Pro bono representation is when a lawyer represents a client without charging a fee. This is different from a contingency fee case where the attorney’s fee is collected as a portion of the client’s financial recovery.
My firm is a for-profit business, and I sell my time to support my family as well as pay my overhead. I have represented people through legal aid agencies, and I have answered many simple questions for free on internet forums. However, my firm does not take on individual clients with no expectation of payment for labor.
That said, my firm does accept certain types of cases on contingency fee—notably, all types of personal injury cases, Cook County security deposit disputes, and some types of consumer protection cases.
The type of fee will be discussed during your initial consultation, along with an estimate of the total fee.
If your case is not a good fit for my firm and you authorize me to make a referral when you fill out the contact form, I will try to connect you with a more suitable attorney. Having practiced law for over a decade, my network of potential referral attorneys is robust enough to handle most matters.
No, submitting this form does not create an attorney-client relationship. An attorney-client relationship is only formed when a written legal service agreement is signed by both you and a representative of my firm.
